Weimaraner

Sure, your non-hunting companions may recognize this dog’s graceful image from countless movies and art expositions, but you know this dog is more than just a pretty face. This breed hails from Germany and was essentially unknown in the United States until the 1940s. The Weimaraner gained renown as an all around utility dog and was touted for hunting everything from foxes to retrieving water fowl.

Originally bred for Germany’s noble class, the Weimaraner possesses the skills that any modern day King of the House would desire in their pet. This dog is protective of its owner and makes a great guard at the castle doors. He’s athletic and intelligent, making him one heck of a good looking problem solver. With training, this breed makes a great gun dog.

Male Weimaraners are between 24 and 27 inches tall at the shoulder while females are between 22 and 25 inches tall. The males weigh in between 55 to 70 pounds and females between 50 and 60 pounds.
