While its exact origins are debatable, this animal was developed in the Cantal region of France to be an indefatigable hunting dog. Energetic, playful and possessing an excellent sense of smell, the Braque d’Auvergne . Although the population was almost decimated during World War II, careful breeding has kept this dog alive for the modern day hunter to enjoy.
A robust and muscular dog, this attractive animal has an elegant short coat and long, arched neck.. His efficient galloping stride with excellent scent and pointing abilities makes the Braque d’Auvergne a superior hunting dog.
A large breed, this dog stands between 22 and 25 inches and height and weighs between 49 and 62 pounds.
